Pay It Forward

I found this over at Lynn's blog, who in turn found it at Alison's blog.. HERE.. she is doing this pay it forward.. so I thought.. what a great idea.. :)
"Pay It Forward" is the idea of blessing someone with a random act of kindness without expecting anything in return. It’s passing on a kindness, hoping that your recipients will do the same, and forming a never-ending chain of goodwill. But it isn’t only kindness, it is also a means to connect and share instead of just keeping it to ourselves.

"I promise to send an original creation to the 1st 5 people who leave a comment here. They must, in turn, post this, and send something they make to the 1st 5 people who comment on their status."

Here's what you need to do:
1. Leave a comment on this post. I will send a handmade gift to the first 5 people who leave a comment.
2. Create a post on your blog offering the same.
3. Send a handmade item to your first 5 people who leave a comment.
4. It must be sent to your 5 people sometime in 2011.

Scrapbook Layout YT Hop

Hi Everyone,

This is a video of my scrapbook layout that was hosted by Limor and Zoe and also sponsored by Scrap-A-Lot in Edmonton.  This layout used bazzill cardstock and mainly the SEI papers.  I also incorporated rubons, acrylic paints, prima flowers and handmade ribbon flowers.  I made this layout for my 2nd annual CIBC Run for the Cure in October 2010.  I am a one year breast cancer survivor and wanted to document my journey and causes that I support because of this terrible disease.  Please check out my video and don't forget to post a comment as there will be 2 giveaways given by Scrap-A-Lot.  Please also check out their website at www.scrap-a-lot.com.  They offer wonderful kits designed by 6 different designers.  Thanks for watching!  I will be posting a video in the next few days for a giveaway when I reach 150 blog followers and also for 200 subscribers to my YT channel.  So stay tuned and good luck!

Altered Book Box and Mini Album

Hello Everyone,

This is a project that I have been working on since the beginning of April for a class that I am teaching at my local scrapbooking store called Treasured Memories in Edmonton, AB.  The class is scheduled for June 18, 2011 and I already have 8 people signed up for the class.  This is my second class at Treasured Memories.  I used the Butterfly Garden line from Pink Paislee, Iamroses, ribbon, mosaic tiles, the stamp set from the Butterfly Garden line, Tim Holtz distress stains and ink, crackle accents, Martha Stewart Monarch Butterfly punch and loads of tags.  I am excited to share this projects with some wonderful women.  My philosophy when teaching a class is to also teach various techniques that everyone can use in future projects.  I have learned a lot of the techniques from some wonderful women.  Limor, a friend of mine has taught me a lot in the past year.  Thanks Limor!!!!  I hope you like this and if you are interested in purchasing a kit please contact Treasured Memories at http://www.treasuredmemories.ca.  They ship anywhere in the world.  The class kit is $60 and includes a bottle of the Tim Holtz Distress Stain.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will leave a comment of what you think.

Domino Tile Mini Album - Completed

Front View
Back View

Hi Everyone...I have finished the Domino Tile Mini Album from the Artsy Addicts Technique Blog Hop.  As you can tell, I have decided to make it for Karla as a gift for all that she has done for me.  I used a corner rounder punch for the entire album so that when closed it matches the shape of the domino.  I also used the Jubilee Teal Woman Frothed Paper for the inside of each of the album pages.  I inked all of the papers with Stormy Sky Distress Ink and then adhered the letters with the Mulberry Glass Slipper Glitter Puffy Thickers to make the words.  Hope you enjoy the completed project.  Thanks for stopping by and would love to have comments.  I am also planning on doing a giveaway when I reach 100 followers on my blog.  The giveaway will be for one domino tile mini album (no words) so that you can fill in what you like, along with a few bottles of alcohol ink and a bottle of mixative.  I will use random.org to pick the winner when I reach the 100 follower marker.

Kaisercraft Design Team Application Projects

Hi Everyone,

Nervous, nervous, nervous.  I pondered on the idea of applying for the Kaisercraft DT as I am new to the whole scrapbooking world but thought, "If I don't try, I will never know if I have what it takes.".  So with that, I decided to take the plunge.  I must say that this was a difficult project for me to undertake as there is not a lot of Kaisercraft where I shop.  I called every store in my city and everyone came back with the same words, "Sorry but we don't carry much from this company as it is difficult to get seeing as they are an Australian Company and our wholesaler does not carry their products."  I was disheartened and disappointed.  So I decided to make projects with what little products I had.  A lot of my projects are made from the 4 different lines and not all of the products from each line as my local scrapbooking store did not have them all.  I hope you enjoy what I made.

SINGLE PAGE LAYOUT

This is a layout that I made with a picture of my daughter in Las Vegas holding two snakes.  I thought that the Bird Song paper suited this picture perfectly as it had all the nature elements needed to make this serene yet bountiful.  This layout was made using the Bird Song - Wing Tip Paper(P242), Orange Rhinestones (SB710), Wood Flourishes - flourish vine (FL328), Paper Blooms - Coconut (F627), Rub Ons - Up, Up & Away (RB869), Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists - Crushed Shells, Coffee Shop, Maya Road Mists - Bronze Metallic, Recollection Butterfly, Prima Butterflies - Vlinder, Prima lace ribbon and Vintage Photo Distress Stains by Ranger.

TWO PAGE LAYOUT

This project was the easiest of all my projects as the paper just screamed out to these pictures of myself and my husband when we went to the Peace Gardens in North Dakota back in 2007.  I have been waiting for the perfect paper to scrapbook these pictures and when I found these I knew they were what I was looking for.  With all the flowers on the paper that I could craft cut to accent the flowers in the pictures I knew right away how I was going to assemble this layout.  This 2 page layout was made using:  Hippy Girl Collection - Luna (P555), Harmony (P554), Journal Tags (JT604), Rub Ons (RB897), Paper Blooms - Seabreeze (F631), Fuchsia (F639), Zva Crystals and Recollection Butterfly.

CARDS

Since I am a fanatic about anything pink and all about flowers, this card gave me the ability to showcase both of these things.  This card was made with the Chanteuse Collection - Marcato (P643), Bubblegum Hills - Candy Confetti (P635), Fucshia Paper Blooms (F639), Fancy Pants Pink Lace Ribbon, Prima, Ivory Lace Ribbon and Vintage Photo Distress Ink by Ranger.

Sometimes I just want a card that is simple yet has dimension and this card was perfect for the job.  It did not take a lot to make this card beautiful and noticed.  This card was made with the Chanteuse Collection - Marcato (P643), Bubblegum Hills - Candy Confetti (P635), Fucshia Paper Blooms (F639), Crochet Doilies (EM953), Misc Grey ribbon with pearls and the Vintage Photo Distress Ink by Ranger.

For the kid in me, I wanted to use a stamp that could make a card both young and fun.  I love how easy it was to use the clear bird stamp and just add a little bit of embellishments to make such a cute card.  This card was made with the Bubblegum Hills - Berry Surprise (P636), Blue Lemonade (P631), Flourish Bird Clear Stamp (CS931), Thinking of You (CS921), misc blue brads, May Arts blue dot ribbon.

Back of Album

I wanted to make sure that I made something that was masculine as it is definitely out of my comfort zone.  Working with small spaces was also difficult as I am use to making full layouts as opposed to mini albums.  I really love how this album turned out and that I could give this as a gift to a male recipient where they could enjoy the factor that there are no feminine colors or accents.  This Mini Tag Album was made with Up, Up & Away - Slideshow (P542), Military - Hawk Eye (P278), Crusader (P279), D-Day (P277), Wood Flourishes - Locks and Hinges (FL330), Frames (FL305), Prima lace ribbon, misc. grey sheer ribbon, Tim Holtz - Mini Clips and Mini stapes.

TRINKET MINI BOOKSHELF

This project was made using the Kaisercraft MDF lines and was suppose to house mini albums but I wanted to make this into a decor item.  So I decided to house the shelves with mini wooden boxes that can hold small treasures.  I love the vibrant colors and summer feel to this project as we do not get a lot of summer where I am from.  It just puts a smile on my face when I see this sitting on my shelf.  This mini bookshelf was made with Hippy Girl - Earth (P550), Sunshine (P551), Delilah (PS112), Chanteuse - Marcato (P643), Paper Blooms - Sea Breeze (F631), Amethyst (F643), Coconut (F627), Flutterby's - Bubblegum (EM961), Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists - Party Pink, Rose Tea, Americana Paint - Sea Breeze, Peony Pink,  Maya Road - Ivory Mini Rose Ribbon, Prima Ivory Lace Ribbon, Deco Art Paint - Cherry Blossom Pink and Glossy Accents.

I have always wanted to make a canvas folio but never had the guts to try it out.  But when I saw the Up, Up &Away line, I knew that it would be perfect for this project.  I wanted to incorporate the colors from our home decor into a project that would fit perfectly in our livingroom.  I love the homey feel to this project and hope that you enjoy it too.  This Canvas Folio was made with Up, Up & Away - Admit One (PS107), Bumper Car (P539), Die Cut Elements (DC322), Crochet Doilie (EM949), Pearl Flourish (PL507), Mango Pearls (SB781), Rub Ons (RB870) and (RB869), Paper Blooms - Coconut (F627), Sunset (F634), Petaloo Flowers, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists - Coffee Shop, Crushed Shells and Radiant Rain Copper Mist.

I love making projects for my daughter.  Since she does not share my love for scrapbooking and only shares in receiving finished projects that can be displayed in her room, I decided to make this mini folio for her in memory of our trip to Las Vegas this past Christmas.  I loved using both color and sepia pictures to showcase how versatile this paper line really is.  This Mini Folio was made with papers from the Lush Collection 6" Paper Pad (PP825), Black Flourish (PL514), Paper Blooms - Coconut (F627), Sunset (F634), Sepia Archival Ink and Binder Rings.

ALTERED BOOK BOX

Every girl loves to have a place to put their secret treasures and my daughter is no different.  I wanted to make her something that she could put her pictures or journals into and this book box did exactly that.  I love that I was able to use the wooden hinge as an accent to close the box.  It really gave it a different feel and accented the ribbon beautifully.  This Altered Book Box was made with Bubblegum Hills - Blue Lemonade (P631), Orange Pop (P634), Hippy Girl - Earth (P550), Luna (P555), Paper Blooms - Coconut (F627), Iceberg (F630), Sunset (F634), Wood Flourishes - Frames (FL305), Locks & Hinges (FL330), Pearls - Teal (SB783), Mango (SB781), Printed Chipboard - Hippy Girl (CB113), Martha Stewart Butterfly punches and misc. green ribbon.

I hope that you enjoyed my 8 projects for the Kaisercraft Design Team Application.  Would love to hear your comments.
